About Me

Hi! My name is Shivani Kulkarni, and I created this website during my senior year of high school (2019-2020) as part of the sixth cohort of the Academy of Global Studies at Parish Episcopal School. This website, intended to spread awareness and inform web users about how the problem of gender discrimination manifests in rural India and how to think about potential solutions, complements the roughly 30-page thesis I wrote during my junior year, the third year of the four-year program.

I knew that I cared about social issues, wanted to do high-level research before college, and wanted a global perspective, so I joined the AGS program and could not have made a better decision. In the future, I hope to connect my interest in the natural sciences with a global issues focus.

I sincerely hope that this website serves its informative purpose and that it showcases my passion for gender issues across the world.

About 1

The Academy of Global Studies

Parish Episcopal School's Academy of Global Studies (AGS) is a selective, four-year, research-intensive signature program designed to allow students with a passion for global issues to study and generate solutions to the complex problems faced across the world today. AGS complements the traditional high school curriculum and is tailored to the individual student, allowing each student to choose his or her research topic and pursue it for three years, culminating in a capstone paper and project.

In addition to the student's chosen course of research, AGS consists of four trimester-length courses, on- and off-campus conferences and forums, and involvement with the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, all of which are meant to increase students' global competency and awareness of social, economic, and political issues.

Each year, the program produces a select cohort of globally-aware students ready to impact the world around them.
